Koelbaek Earns National Honors

LAS VEGAS - Following her first career win, UNLV women's golf freshman Therese Koelbaek was named Golfweek's Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Koelbaek won the USF Richmond Country Club Invitational with a two-over 215 over three rounds, including posting a final-round score of two-under 69. Koelbaek, who finished four shots better than second place and helped the Rebels finish third overall at the tournament.

It was the first medalist honors for Koelbaek, a native of Holte, Denmark, who was playing in just the fifth collegiate tournament of her career. The win marked the 10th time that a Rebel golfer had won medalist honors in the school's six-plus years of golf.

The invitational was the last fall tournament for Koelbaek and the Rebels, who will resume play in the spring at the Wildcat Invitational on Feb. 25-27 in Tucson, Ariz.
