LAS VEGAS - All UNLV fans can enjoy two sports for the price of one next week in celebration of the upcoming Veterans Day holiday, the athletics department announced Friday.
For only $10 you can see both a men's basketball and football game. Fans get a balcony ticket to watch the Runnin' Rebels take on Montana State on Friday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center as well as a sideline seat to watch Rebel football vs. San Diego State for Senior Day on Saturday, Nov. 10 beginning at 8 p.m. at Sam Boyd Stadium.
Also, in honor of Veterans Day, the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard Drill Team will be performing at halftime of the Nov. 10 football game. The 30-person rifle exhibition drill team stationed at Bolling Air Force Base, Washington D.C., performs a 16-person showcase drill featuring overhead and underhand tosses, 40-mph double spins, dangerous "gauntlet" walk-throughs with spinning weapons and more.
The team, originally formed in 1949, is part of the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard, whose full-time mission is to carry out funerals in Arlington National Cemetery. Each member of the drill team is selected from the top of their respective elements, put through rigorous six-week training classes and required to perform in front of their peers before being allowed to perform as part of the traveling team.
Fans can get the Veterans Day Special by calling (702) 739-FANS or visiting the Thomas & Mack Center ticket office starting today. You can also purchase the special deal from the ticket office at the Runnin' Rebel game on Nov. 9.
