The UNLV women's basketball team will be looking to break a four-game losing streak when it returns to action this weekend, when it plays in the Lady Privateer Invitational, hosted by the University of New Orleans. It will be a tough challenge however for the Lady Rebels, who will be playing away from Las Vegas for the first time this season. Their first opponent of the invitational is 16th-ranked George Washington on Friday at 4 pm (PST), and UNLV will follow with a contest against the host New Orleans squad that has a 4-2 record on the season. That game will tipoff at 1 pm (PST) on Saturday.

The Lady Rebels are no stranger to top-25 competition, having played 10 games against ranked teams over the past four seasons. In fact, UNLV is 3-1 in its last four games against top-25 teams, including last year's 89-71 win over No. 19 DePaul on Dec. 28 in Las Vegas. George Washington will be the highest ranked team UNLV has played since falling to No. 14 Minnesota 77-69 on Nov. 14, 2004 in the WBCA/BTI Classic in Seattle. This is the second time UNLV will play the 16th-ranked team in the AP Poll, the previous meetings were a loss at North Carolina in the 1986 NCAA First Round, and a loss at Long Beach State in the 1979 AIAW Regionals.

The player to watch from UNLV is senior guard/forward Sequoia Holmes, who not only maintained her status as the top scorer in the Mountain West with a career-high 35 point performance against Oregon State in her last outing, but she is also currently the fifth-leading scorer in the nation, with a 24.6 ppg average.
