The UNLV women's golf team is tied for second and a pair of Rebels sit atop the leaderboard after the opening two rounds of play at the USF/Richmond Country Club Invitational.
Rebel freshman Alejandra Guacaneme has the individual lead with a two-round total of one-over 143 after she opened the tournament with a 69 (-2) and the capped it with a 74 (+3). Teams played 54-holes on Monday at the Richmond Country Club Course, a par-71, 5,963-yard course.
Guacaneme was three strokes ahead of fellow UNLV rookie Therese Koelbaek, who has a share of second place with a 54-hole total of 146 (75-71, +4).
Texas Tech has the opening-day lead with a 606 (305-301, +38), just two strokes ahead of both UNLV and UC Davis, who each carded totals of 607 (+39). The Rebels are part of a nine-team field that includes No. 38 Texas Tech, No. 45 Oregon and the host No. 49 Dons.
UNLV senior Tonya Choate is tied for 38th with a two-round total of 163 (75-78, +21) and Melissa Mabanta is in 41st with a score of 164 (82-82, +22). Natasha Krishna was forced to take DQ for the first round after she forgot to sign her scorecard, but she did not let that bother her and she carded a two-over 73 in the second round.
The Rebels also had Kasi Lee and Nicole McGirr competing as individuals at the tournament. Lee is tied for 36th with a score of 162 (80-82, +20) and McGirr is 49th with a score of 170 (80-90, +28).
The teams will close out the tournament with 18 holes on Tuesday.
