* UNLV Returns from Week Off To Take On #21 New Mexico
The Rebels, fresh off their upset of then-No. 21 New Mexico, look to keep the good fortunes rolling as they welcome the Spartans of San Jose State and the Sacramento State Hornets to Las Vegas for a pair of conference matches. SJSU and UNLV last met Oct. 14 in San Jose, Calif., with the hosts winning a 3-0 decision, while the Hornets and Rebs faced off Oct. 12 with Sacramento State earning a 1-0 win. UNLV has played very well at home this season though, posting a 5-2-1 mark at Peter Johann Memorial Field.

* Rebel Junior Nicholas Paterson Picks Up Weekly Awards
Following UNLV's 2-1 double-overtime upset of 21st-ranked New Mexico on Saturday night, junior forward Nicholas Paterson picked up a pair of weekly honors on Monday. He was named both Co-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week, and was also named to College Soccer News' Team of the Week. Paterson becomes the first Rebel to earn conference weekly honors this season and joins Lamar Neagle as having been named to the CSN Team of the Week in 2007. Paterson, a native of Mothewell, Scotland, came off the bench to score the golden goal against the Lobos, breaking UNLV's seven-game losing streak to New Mexico. It was also his first goal of the year after missing several games in the beginning of the season due to a knee injury.

* Scouting the San Jose State Spartans
The SJSU Spartans boast two of the best offensive players in the conference in Ismael Ibarra and Julio Gonzalez. Ibarra has eight goals and three assists for 19 points, which is among the top-five in the MPSF. Gonzalez is more of a finisher, scoring six goals for 12 points. Colby Moore has been a spark off the bench for the Spartans, posting five goals over 13 games as a reserve. The goalkeeper situation for SJSU has been more of a mystery, though a trend statiscally has emerged that the keeper that is in net for a win usually starts the next game. Lewis Sweeney was in goal for the Spartan's 2-1 loss to Denver, so look for Richard Mann to get the call if this trend continues. Mann was in net for the 3-0 win over UNLV back on Oct. 14.

* Scouting the Sacramento State Hornets
Sacramento State struggled early in the season, but has come on lately going 2-1-1 over their last four. The Hornets are still a pretty inexperienced team, having only two seniors on this year's sqaud, possibly explaining their early season struggles. Sacramento State is led offensively by two freshmen: Ernesto Carranza and Fernando Cabadas. Carranza is second on the team in both goals (3) and assists (3), but tops the Hornet point list. Cabadas has scored twice, and has dished out a team-high four assists. Brady and Blake Nunes are also important parts up front for Sacramento State, as they have combined for six goals. On the backline, Eli Millan and Adam Owens lead the way, both All-MPSF performers from a season ago. In net for the Hornets looks to be Ryan Kenny. Kenny has started all but two of the matches for Sacramento State. He has allowed 27 goals, making 64 saves and posting two shutouts.
