LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) — UNLV men's soccer senior goalkeeper
Hugo Lemos and sophomore forward
Maxim Scordo were named the respective Mountain West Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, the conference announced Monday. It is the second honor for each of them this season, while marking the third week a Rebel has received the recognition.
The duo helped the Rebels to a 2-0 week that included a 1-0 home victory over UC San Diego and a 2-0 road win against UC Irvine.
Originally from A Coruna, Spain, Lemos anchored the Scarlet & Gray backline to back-to-back shutouts during his 180 minutes in goal. He tallied 10 saves across the two contests, including a season-high-tying six stops against UCSD and four more at UCI.
A native of Newport Beach, California, Scordo finished the week with three points behind his goal and assist in UNLV's win over the Anteaters. The striker scored the game-winning goal against UCI and later added an assist on the second goal.
