A pair of UNLV women's golfers, Natasha Krishna and Seema Sadekar, are in the top 10 after Friday's first round of the PING/ASU Invitational being played at Karsten Golf Course.
Both golfers shot an even-par 72 on the course to finish in a group of six student-athletes that are tied for 10th. Host-school Arizona State holds the team lead with an 18-hole score of 285 (-3) and Pernilla Lindberg of Oklahoma State has the individual lead after she opened with an 84 (-4).
Krishna had a pair of birdies and two bogies in her round while Sadekar rolled in 16 pars with a birdie and a bogey mixed in on her scorecard.
After those two though the scoring dropped off for UNLV, which is in ninth place overall as a team with a total of 300 (+12) heading into Saturday's second round.
Nicole McGirr, playing in her first tournament as a member of the scoring team after playing in three tournaments as an individual, is tied for 50th with a score a 77 (+5). Melissa Mabanta (79, +7) is tied for 70th and Kasi Lee (83, +11) is tied for 90th.
