Final Stats

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV softball team (17-10) only needed one run to defeat the Harvard Crimson (2-3) Friday night in the Eller Media Stadium Classic, 1-0. Heather Slettvet was the only offense that UNLV needed to notch its 17th win of the season. Slettvet helped herself with a solo home run and pitched 6.0 innings for the win.

Slettvet (4-3) recorded both of UNLV's hits in the contest with a line drive shot that cleared the outer fence of the stadium in the second inning from a Shelly Madick (0-2) offering. She picked up a single in the fifth with a shot to left.

Slettvet tossed six scoreless innings before handing the ball over to Christie Robinson in the seventh. Robinson entered after Slettvet issued a walk to Susie Winkeller to open the seventh. Robinson got the first two batters to strike out and the third to ground out to earn her second save of the season.

Harvard's batters picked up three hits in the game, but its best opportunity to score came in the fifth. Danielle Kerper led off the winning with a walk and took second on an errant pick-off throw by Bri Bernardi. Melissa Schellberg pushed Kerper to third with a ground out. Fortunately, Slettvet got out of the inning with two straight outs.

The Rebels return to action on Saturday night with two games. UNLV will face Miami at 6:00 pm and then follow it up with a contest against Longwood at 8:15 pm.
