UNLV women's golf freshman Natasha Krishna turned in one of the strongest final rounds of the day to lead the Rebels, who finished tied for 15th at the Indiana Invitational played at Crooked Stick Golf Club.
Krishna rolled in a birdie and 15 pars for a 74 (+2) to move up the leaderboard and finish tied for ninth with a 36-hole total of seven-over 151 (77-74) after starting her round on Tuesday tied for 23rd place. UNLV had a team total of 643 (320-323, +67) to tie with Ball State in the last regular season tournament of the season for the Rebels.
Frost delayed the start of Tuesday's round, but it warmed up to the mid 50s and playing conditions on the par-72, 5,983-yard course were better today than Monday's opening round. Temperatures in the low 40s and wind only allowed 18 holes to be played instead of the 36 that was originally planned for yesterday and it hindered scores, resulting in every player but one carding an above-par round.
Michigan won the team title with a final score of 603 (308-295, +27) coming from behind to be first-round leader Michigan State (299-307--606, +30) by three strokes and Illinois (304-305--609, +33) by six shots. Seul Ki Park of Illinois led wire-to-wire to take home individual honors, rolling in another round of par on Tuesday to finish with a 36-hole total of even-par 72. Park carded a 72 to open her round and was the only player to finish at par in the tournament, which featured 17 teams and 92 individuals.
Kasi Lee (81-81--162, +18) and Nicole McGirr (84-78--162, +18) finished in a group that tied for 65 th and Melissa Mabanta (81-87--168, +24) tied for 83rd to fill out the UNLV scorecard. Rebel senior Seema Sadekar withdrew from the tournament on Monday and also did not play Tuesday.
UNLV will now prepare to win the Mountain West Conference title for a fourth-straight year and the league championships are April 19-21 at Entrada at Snow Canyon Golf Club in St. George, Utah.
