Lady Rebel To Serve On 50th Anniversary Panel

Aug. 30, 2007

LAS VEGAS - Lady Rebel junior Dominique Harris has been selected to serve on a very prestigious panel for UNLV as part of the university's 50th Anniversary celebration.

As one of the components of UNLV's celebration on Sept. 25, the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs will be hosting Focus: 50 to 100, a major presentation to the campus that will "kick-off" a year long planning process for allowing the students, faculty, and community stakeholders to participate in shaping the near term evolution of the university.

This event will provide everyone with a common data set reviewing UNLV's history, current performance measures, how the university compares to aspirant institutions, and a focused presentation on the fiscal status.

The morning presentation will be followed in the afternoon by four panel discussions on: identity and values; how UNLV's identity informs its educational mission; 3) how UNLV's identity can drive interdisciplinary research growth; and 4) the infrastructure challenges that the university will need to address to reach its goals.

Panels of university students, staff, faculty, administration, and community members will be provided with a series of challenge questions on these issues to frame the discussion for each session. Harris, who was recommended by a university professor and provost, will be one of six members on the infrastructure panel.
