Preseason Praise For Rebels

Sept. 13, 2007

LAS VEGAS - UNLV women's golf had three student-athletes spotlighted by Golfweek this past week in sophomore Natasha Krishna and freshmen Alejandra Guacaneme and Therese Koelbaek.

Krishna, a native of Auckland, New Zealand, was rated as the 46th-best returning player in the country after posting a scoring average of 74.63 on her way to All-Mountain West Conference honors in her rookie season. She won the Aloha Purdue Collegiate Invitational and posted two other top-five finishes.

Guacaneme and Koelbaek were both named notable newcomers by Golfweek as part of its preseason preview.

The Rebels enter their sixth season under the direction of head coach Missy Ringler and the progam's seventh overall. They return four letterwinners from last year's squad, including the aforementioned Krishna.

UNLV opens its season on the road at the 2007 NCAA Fall Preview in Albuquerque, N.M., on Sept. 24-26, and the tournament will be played on the UNM Championship Course, which will also be the site for the 2008 NCAA Women's Golf Championships.
