LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's golf program received a signed national letter of intent from Ellis Keenan, who will enroll next fall and be eligible for the 2009-10 season, head coach Missy Ringler announced Monday.
Keenan is one of the top juniors in England, and the native of Surrey has four tournament titles this year on her resume and is currently ranked No. 7 in junior girls golf and is the 20th-ranked women's amateur in England.
"We are very excited to have Ellis become a member of our team," Ringler said. "She is a very talented player and will add a tremendous amount of depth to our program."
Keenan won the Surrey Junior State Championship by 16 shots in April, and has also won to Ladies Order of Merit Counting events as a junior. She also has won the Hampshire Rose, the Bridget Jackson Bowl and the England Ladies South East Championship, including tying the course record with at the Hampshire Rose.
"I'm definitely looking forward to it (enrolling at UNLV)," Keenan said. "I am looking forward to the better weather and the facilities, and to continuing my education."
Keenan's brother Farren played golf for the University of Texas from 2003-07.
