LAS VEGAS - UNLV women's golfer sophomore Therese Koelbaek has been named to Golf World's Midseason All-American team, which was announced this week.
The award caps a strong fall session for Koelbaek, which featured a record-breaking performance and her being named the Mountain West Conference's Golfer of the Month for October.
Koelbaek was joined on the team by Anna Nordqvist (UCLA), Jane Chin (UC Irvine, Sr.), Kirby Dreher (Kent St., Sr.), Jodi Ewart (New Mexico, Jr.), Caroline Hedwall (Oklahoma St., Fr.), Cindy LaCrosse (Louisville, Sr.), Lisa McCloskey (Pepperdine, Fr.), Azahara Munoz (Arizona St., Sr.), Sydnee Michaels (UCLA, Jr.), Lizette Salas (Southern Calif., Soph.) and Candace Schepperle (Auburn, Jr.).
"What a great honor for Therese," UNLV head coach Missy Ringler said. "She is such a special student-athlete. We are so very proud to have her as part of our Rebel family."
The highlight of the fall came at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, where Koelbaek rewrote the UNLV record book with three strong rounds of golf.
She shot a 16-under 200 (68-66-66) for a second-place finish at the showdown, and her overall total tied for the second-best round in NCAA history. Koelbaek opened with a four-under 68 on the 6,238-yard Boulder Creek Golf Course, then closed with back-to-back rounds of 66 (-6) to help the Rebels to a fourth-place finish and a school record score of 19-under 845.

Koelbaek, a native of Holte, Denmark, was also one of two Rebels to play in the 2008 World Amateur Team Championships in Australia on Oct. 8-11, finishing 27th overall. She currently ranks first in the MWC for stroke average (70.67) for less than 10 rounds.
