LAS VEGAS - Top-seed and No. 22 BYU (16-5-0) scored three second-half goals and did not allow a shot on goal on the way to a 4-0 victory over UNLV on Thursday afternoon in the semifinals of the Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Championship held at Peter Johann Memorial Field. The Cougars now advance to the championship game against second-seed Utah, while the Rebels saw their season end with an 11-7-3 record.

BYU's Alyssa Vander Veur scored just the first goal of the game in the 35th minute when while in the box fighting off a defender, she turned and tucked in a shot low past UNLV keeper Alicia Lugo for the score.

The Cougars held a 15-3 edge on shots in the first half, and kept up the pressure in the second 45 minutes, beginning with their second goal of the game. Ashleigh Jameson corralled a rebound off a saved shot by Lauren Anderson and blasted it into the goal to push the lead to 2-0 in the 60th minute of the game.

BYU then went up by a 3-0 score 10 minutes later when Rachel Nelson fed Katie Larkin in the middle of the field and she found the back of the ne in the 70th minute. Anderson would add an unassisted score in the 76th minute to account for the game's final tally, making the score 4-0 in favor of the Cougars.

Overall the Cougars finished with 21 shots, eight of which were on goal, while UNLV had five shots in the game. BYU goalkeepers McKinzie Olson and Aleena Shelton did not have to make a save in recording the shutout. Lugo made four saves in the contest.
