LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's soccer (1-2) team suffered its first home loss of the season Thursday night, falling to UC San Diego (2-1), 2-1, at Peter Johann Memorial Field.
In the first half, the Rebels responded to a one-score deficit from a UCSD penalty kick when freshman forward
Audrina Hernandez scored her first career goal in the 27th minute. The match remained tied, 1-1, until the Tritons scored the deciding goal in the 76th minute on a high-arching shot from over 20 yards.
UP NEXT: The Scarlet & Gray will play its first road match Sunday at California Baptist as part of a four-game road swing.
NOTES:
- The Rebel attack tied its season high in shots, finishing with 11 total shots for the second consecutive match.
- Junior goalkeeper Ava Droze made her first start in a Rebel kit, making six saves to match sophomore goalkeeper Riley Hodson's season high in stops.
