LAS VEGAS - Wyoming made six three-pointers in each half and shot 57.1% from the floor to claim an 88-78 victory over UNLV on Saturday night in Mountain West Conference women's basketball action from the Cox Pavilion. The win moved the Cowgirls to 22-4 overall, 10-3 in league play, while the Lady Rebels dropped to 8-17, 4-8 in the MWC.

The win for Wyoming broke its 11-game losing streak to UNLV in Las Vegas, as the Cowgirls are now 2-11 all-time on the Lady Rebels' home court. It was also the second straight time Wyoming has hit 12 three-pointers in its game with UNLV. Wyoming knocked down 12-of-26 from three-point range on the way to an 87-39 win in Laramie on Jan. 23. It was a much closer contest this time around, as the Lady Rebels never quit fighting, and became the first team to score more then 70 points against Wyoming this year. The 88-78 score was also the most combined score in a Lady Rebel contest since a 92-87 win over Colorado State on Jan. 22, 2004.

Wyoming then took control of the game with an 11-2 spurt, which was capped by Jodi Bolerjack's trey at 3:06 to make the score 32-17. In the second half, Wyoming answered four straight UNLV scoring possessions with a three-pointer, to push a 12-point lead, 44-32, to a 19-point edge, 56-37, with 15:29 to play. The lead then hovered between 13-21 points for the next 13 minutes.

Wyoming lead 77-57 with 5:40 to play when UNLV made one last charge, as a 12-4 run cut the lead down to just 12, 81-69 with 2:13 left. The Lady Rebels would also score seven of the final nine points, but were never able to bring the deficit into single digits.

Shamela Hampton led UNLV with 23 points and was 11-of-13 at the line, while Holmes added 21 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and three steals.
