SANTA CLARA - The 41st-ranked UNLV women's tennis team endured four stoppages of play over a four-hour period of bad weather but finally defeated Santa Clara 6-0 late Sunday at the Delgheri Tennis Center.
The Lady Rebels improved to 4-1 overall after splitting their first road trip over the weekend. The Broncos fell to 0-4.
Senior star Elena Gantcheva took the day off so Kristina Nedeltcheva moved up to the top spot and won 4-6, 6-2, 7-5. Also winning for the visitors were Katy Williams at No. 2, Nikol Dimitrova at No. 3, Anna Maskaljun at No. 4, Adrienn Hidvegi at No. 5 and Sharon Marin on court six.
Doubles play was canceled because of the late start.
UNLV is next in action Feb. 15 when its hosts Illinois State.
