TUCSON, Ariz. - The No. 15 UNLV men's golf team shot a final-round even-par 288 Tuesday at the National Invitational Tournament at Omni Tucson National Golf Club (par 72, 7,033 yards) and finished third at even-par 864. It marked UNLV's seventh straight tournament with a top-five finish.
TCU shot a final-round 1-over 289 but still won the event by three shots at 10-under 854. Kent State used a final round of 9-under 279 to jump up to second place. The Golden Flashes finished at 7-under over 54-holes. Arizona State followed UNLV in fourth place at 2-over, while host Arizona rounded out the top five at 6-over.
Individually, three players tied for medalist honors and were listed as co-champions as no playoff was held. Tulsa's Nicolas Geyger, Kent State's David Markle and Houston's Ben Moser all tied for first at 8-under 208. Geyger shot a final-round 1-under 71, Markle fired a 5-under 67 and Moser shot 3-under 69. TCU's Franklin Corpening finished fourth at 6-under.
UNLV sophomore Eddie Olson led the way for the Rebels after shooting a final-round 1-over 73 and tying for 10th place at 2-under 214 for the tournament.
Other UNLV players final-round scores, totals and places: sophomore Brett Kanda (71, 2-over 218, T21st), freshman Ji Moon (71, 2-over 218, T21st), senior C.J. Gatto (75, 3-over 219, T29th) and junior Seung-Su Han (73, 6-over 222, T39th). Senior Jarred Texter, who competed as an individual, shot a final-round 80 and finished 73rd at 18-over 234.
UNLV will be back in action April 7-8, at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate in Austin, Texas.
