SACRAMENTO, Calif. -
First Round Results
Paced by the strong play of Natasha Krishna, the UNLV women's golf team is in fourth place after two round of play at the Sacramento State Preview, being play at Lincoln Hills Golf Club.
It is the same course that the Rebels will play on if the team advances to the NCAA West Regional, something the program has done the past three years while UNLV has reached a regional in five-straight years.
"We played well as a team today and Natasha did a great job for us," UNLV head coach Missy Ringler said. "This tournament offers us the chance to play the same course we will play on at the West Regional."
The University of Denver has a commanding lead after two rounds of play, posting a two-over 578 on Monday to take a 12-shot lead over Washington State (297-293--590, +14) heading into Tuesday's final round. Oregon (300-292--592, +16) is third, followed by UNLV (301-296--597, +21). Amy Enroth of Washington State has the individual lead, as she shot a five-under 139 (71-68), good for a four-stroke advantage over Katie Kempter of Denver and Alice Kim of UC Davis.
Krishna is in the hunt for medalist honors following two solid rounds of golf, as she opened with a 73 (+1) and then followed that with an even-par 72 to cap her day, which has her tied for fourth after 54 holes of golf. Krishna, a sophomore from Auckland, New Zealand, finished the day with eight birdies in her two rounds on the par-72, 6,018-yard course.
