Krishna Doesn't Fool Around

April 1, 2008

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -

FINAL RESULTS

UNLV sophomore Natasha Krishna finished fifth and the Rebels came in tied for fourth as a team at the Sacramento State Preview, which wrapped up on Tuesday at Lincoln Hills Golf Club.

"We left some shots out there on the course today, or else we could have finished a little higher," UNLV head coach Missy Ringler said. "That shows to our team how important each shot is during the round. We finished just five shots out of second place."

The University of Denver won team honors going away, finishing with a team score of 876 (+12), which was 24 strokes better than Oregon's team total of 900 (+36). Fresno State (904, +40) finished third, followed by UNLV and UC Davis at 905 (+41). Amy Enroth of Washington State earned medalist honors with a 216 (E), holding off Cathryn Bristow of Oregon and Alice Kim of UC Davis by a stroke.

It is the same course that the Rebels will play on if the team advances to the NCAA West Regional, something the program has done the past three years while UNLV has reached a regional in five-straight years.

Krishna was in the hunt for medalist honors with three solid rounds of golf, as she capped her tournament with a two-over 74 today to finish with a total of 219 (+3), just three strokes behind Enroth. Her fifth-place finish was the best of the season for Krishna, marking her first top-five finish of the year for the native of Auckland, New Zealand.

"Natasha had a great tournament," Ringler said. "It is nice to see her playing like that this time of year."

Therese Koelbaek (75-76-76--227, +11) tied for 27th, Kasi Lee (76-75-79--230, +14) and Alejandra Guacaneme (77-74-79--230, +14) were in a group that tied for 32nd and Tonya Choate (85-75-81--241, +25) finished tied for 79th.

UNLV's next tournament is the Indiana Invitational on April 7-8 at Crooked Stick Golf Course in Indianapolis, and it is the final regular-season tournament of the year for the Rebels.
