Indiana Invitational Results
UNLV women's golf put together two solid rounds on Monday and is currently in second place at the Indiana Invitational which is being played at Crooked Stick Country Club.
The Rebels capped their day by shooting three-over par 291 for their second round on the par-72 course, and they finished with a total of 590 (+14). Therese Koelbaek and Natasha Krishna turn in sub-par second rounds, with Koelbaek carding a four-under 68 and Krishna firing a two-under 70 on the day's second round.
"It was great to see Natasha and Therese put together sub-par rounds together," UNLV head coach Missy Ringler said. "We are starting to play the way I knew we could and this is a great confidence boost heading into postseason play."
The overall leader of the tournament is Purdue, which put a huge gap between itself and the rest of the field with an opening-day total of 561 (-15), good for a 29-stroke lead over UNLV. The Boilermakers were nine under after the first round and shot six under as a team during the day's second 18 holes of play. UNLV has a five-stroke lead over Ohio State (595, +19) for third place. Junthima Gulyanamitta of Purdue has the individual lead, shooting a nine-under 135 to carry a six-stroke lead over teammate Maria Hernandez.
Koelbaek is tied for third place with a two-under 142 and the 68 she shot was her best round of the freshman's career wearing the Scarlet and Gray. Krishna is not far behind, as she is tied for sixth with a 36-hole total of one-over 145.
Alejandra Guacaneme also played her way into the top 20 and is currently tied for 17th with a score of 150 (+6), Melissa Mabanta is tied for 65th with a total of 162 (+18) and Kasi Lee is tied for 76th with a score of 166 (+22). Nicole McGirr is playing as an individual and she is tied for 78th with a score of 167 (+23).
The tournament concludes tomorrow and this is the final regular-season event for UNLV before the Mountain West Conference Championships. The league tournament is April 16-18 in Albuquerque, N.M.
