UNLV Opens Play At NCAA Championships

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - First Round Results

UNLV women's golf is in 24th place following the first round of the 2008 NCAA Championships on Tuesday, which is being played at the Championship Course.

UNLV was led by freshman Therese Koelbaek, who shot an opening-round 75 (+3) as part of a Rebel team score of 314 (+26) and she is tied for 53rd overall. This is the third time in the past six years that UNLV has participated in the NCAA Championships, with the previous two trips coming in 2004 and 2006.

USC is currently in first place with a score of 284 (-4), and UCLA and Auburn are tied for second with scores of 289 (+1). Nannette Hill of Wake Forest has the individual lead with an 18-hole score of five-under 67, good for a two-stroke lead over a group of four players tied for second at three-under 69.

The next Rebel on the leaderboard was Alejandra Guacaneme, who shot a six-over 78 and is tied for 97th. Natasha Krishna shot an 80 (+8) and is tied for 111th, Tonya Choate shot an 81 and is tied for 118th and Kasi Lee carded an 83 and is in 124th.

This is the first NCAA tournament for all five players in the Rebel lineup.
