LAS VEGAS - UNLV freshman Therese Koelbaek, who turned in one of the best rookie campaigns in Rebel women's golf history, was named to Golfweek's Honorable Mention All-American team, which was released Wednesday.

Koelbaek, a native of Holte, Denmark, had a strong rookie year for the Rebels as she was named the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year, won two tournaments and led the league with a 73.38 scoring average. Koelbaek shared medalist honors at the NCAA West Regional, becoming the first Rebel to finish first at an NCAA Regional, and her scoring average was the second best in UNLV history.

Koelbaek took top honors this season at the USF/Richmond Country Club Invitational and she was named the MWC Golfer of the Month for November following her victory. Koelbaek also turned in three other top-five finishes at tournaments, including a fourth-place tie at the MWC Championships last month, as she earned All-MWC honors. She was also helped lead the Rebels to a 16th-place finish at the 2008 NCAA Championships, the best finish in program history at the national tournament.

Koelbaek is the third Rebel to earn All-America honors, joining Sunny Oh, who was an honorable mention selection in 2003 and a second team member in 2004, and Da Sol Chung, who was a first team member in 2006.
