LAS VEGAS - Rising sophomore Karla Gergelova, a forward on the UNLV women's basketball team, has been named to the Czech Republic Under-20 Women's National Team, and will play with the squad in the 2008 U20 European Women's Championships, which begin on Friday in Pescarra, Italy.

Czech Republic is one of four teams in Group B of Division A, along with Turkey, Latvia, and Greece. In all, there are 16 teams in Division A, with the top three teams in the four groups advancing to the qualifying rounds after preliminary round action. The Czech Republic will be looking to win the European title for the second time, after having defeated Russia in the 2002 championship game. It also took the silver medal in 2000 and bronze in 2003.

Gergelova, a 6-1 forward and native of Zlin, appeared in 17 games for the Lady Rebels last season, scoring eight points and adding eight rebounds in 79 minutes of action.
