First Round Results

The UNLV women's golf team is in a group that is tied for fifth following Thursday's first round of the 29th-annual Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, which is being played at the UNM Championship Course.

The Rebels posted a score of nine-over 301 to open the tournament and is tied with three other schools following 18 holes of play, nine-shots back of No. 8 Pepperdine, which grabbed the first-round lead with an even-par 292. No. 19 New Mexico (294, +2) is second, followed by Wyoming (297, +5), UC Davis (298, +6) is fourth followed by the group in fifth. Jayvie Agojo of Pepperdine and Kasey Claussen of Colorado State share the individual lead after 18 holes with scores of two-under 71.

A trio of Rebels are in a group that are currently tied for 14th, as Bethany Glassford, Natasha Krishna and Therese Koelbaek all shot one-over 74 to open up their seasons. It was the first collegiate round for Glassford, a local product from Coronado High School, and she had three birdies and four bogies in her round.

"We started off strong today but we need to make sure to keep that going throughout the entire round and finish strong," said UNLV head coach Missy Ringler. "I am really excited for Bethany Glassford. That is a great start to her college career. We are looking forward to getting out there again tomorrow and playing well."

At the midway point of the round UNLV was at three-under as a team and was near the top of the leaderboard, but the final nine holes played tougher for the Rebels on the par-73 course.

UNLV sophomore Alejandra Guacaneme and rookie Kristen Schelling are in a group that is tied for 56th, as they each shot six-over 79. Kasi Lee, who is playing as an individual in the tournament for the Rebels, also shot a 79 today.

Tee times begin at 7:00 a.m. (PT) on Friday while Saturday's final round is a shotgun start that also starts at 7:00 a.m. Fans can following live by CLICKING HERE.
