LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's golf team, ranked 21st in the country in the Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches' Poll released Thursday, will compete at the William H. Tucker Invitational held at the University of New Mexico's Championship Course in Albuquerque, N.M., Friday-Saturday, September 26-27.
The 54-hole stroke-play tournament will consist of 36 holes on Friday and 18 on Saturday. The Rebels did not play in last year's Tucker Invitational. Pepperdine won last year's event by four shots at even-par 864 and the individual champion was Pepperdine's Jesse Barnsley who won by eight strokes at 12-under 204. UNLV last played in the Tucker in 2006 and finished in sixth place at 17-over 881.
Scheduled to compete for UNLV this week will be senior Seung-Su Han, juniors Brett Kanda and Eddie Olson, sophomore Ji Moon and freshman Derek Ernst. Sophomore Jeremiah Wooding will travel and compete as an individual.
Live scoring will be available courtesy of Golfstat with a link available at UNLVRebels.com. This will be UNLV's second tournament of the fall - the Rebels finished second at the season-opening Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational earlier this month.
