UNLV To Tee It Up In Chicago

Oct. 4, 2009

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's golf team will play in its third tournament of the fall, traveling to Chicago to play in the 2009 Windy City Collegiate Classic, which gets underway Monday at the Glen Club in Glenview, Ill.

The Rebels will play 36 holes in tomorrow's opening round and then 18 on Tuesday, and UNLV (No. 37) is in a field of 15 teams that includes eight that are in Golfweek's Sagarin Top-50 rankings. The others are defending champion Purdue (No. 14), Arizona (No. 16), New Mexico (No. 17), TCU (No. 28), Tulane (No. 30), Iowa State (No. 49) and Illinois (No. 50).

UNLV head coach Missy Ringler will field a lineup of senior Natasha Krishna, juniors Alejandra Guacaneme and Therese Koelbaek, sophomore Kristen Schelling and freshman Ellis Keenan. It is the same lineup the Rebels used in the season-opening Golfweek Conference Challenge and the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational.

The Rebels played in this tournament last year, finishing 13th overall, and they were paced by Schelling, who came in 39th with a 54-hole score of 234 (+18). UNLV didn't have Koelbaek or Krishna in the lineup last year, as the duo was playing in the 2008 World Amateur Team Championships.

Monday's first round is scheduled to get underway with a shotgun start at 6:30 a.m. (PT), and live scoring will be available courtesy of Golfstat with a link found on the schedule page at UNLVRebels.com.
