Windy City Collegiate Classic Results
GLENVIEW, Ill. - UNLV women's golf has a pair of players in the top 20 and the Rebels are eighth overall as a team after two rounds of play Monday at the Windy City Collegiate Classic, which is being held at the Glen Club in Glenview, Ill.
Therese Koelbaek and Natasha Krishna are in a group that is tied for 19th with two-round totals of 3-over 147, pacing UNLV to a team score of 597 (+21) heading into tomorrow's final round. Purdue is the only team under par with a 12-under 564, good for a commanding lead over Arizona (582, +6), and the Boilermakers are being led by Maude-Aimee LeBlanc, who has the individual lead with a 7-under 137.
"We are a little disappointed to be in eighth, as we are still struggling to get a fourth score that will push us into the top three or four," UNLV head coach Missy Ringler said. "I am really happy with how Therese and Natasha played today. Natasha was really steady today and made few mistakes while Therese came back and had a strong second round."
Krishna shots rounds of even-par 72 and 3-over 75, while Koelbaek had a rough beginning with a 76 (+4), but then turned it on in the afternoon with a 1-under 71, UNLV's only sub-par round of the day.
UNLV freshman Ellis Keenan is tied for 43rd with a 152 (80-72, +8), Alejandra Guacaneme is tied for 48th with a 153 (76-77, +9) and Kristen Schelling is tied for 62nd with a 155 (78-77, +11).
UNLV (No. 37) is in a field of 15 teams that includes eight in Golfweek's Sagarin Top-50 rankings. The others are defending champion Purdue (No. 14), Arizona (No. 16), New Mexico (No. 17), TCU (No. 28), Tulane (No. 30), Iowa State (No. 49) and Illinois (No. 50).
Tuesday's final round is scheduled to get underway at 5:30 a.m. (PT), and live scoring will be available courtesy of Golfstat with a link found on the schedule page at UNLVRebels.com.
