Nov. 17, 2009

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV Rebel softball program wrapped up fall action this past weekend with its "Family Day" concluding the month-long activities. The team hosted two fall tournaments, an Alumni Game and the previously mentioned "Family Day".

The Rebels hosted the likes of California Baptist University, Cypress College, College of Southern Nevada and Southern Utah University and went a perfect 8-0. They played CSN three times, CBU and CC twice and SUU once.

On Nov. 7, the program welcomed back its alumni and hosted a friendly game between the current and past Rebels. Playing for the alumni were: Stephanie Bean, Brittany Bolinger, Brittany Meade, Becky McDonald, Bridget Byrne, Sara Mallett, Felicia Benjamins, Heather Siegel, Julie Crandall, Arica Painter Doroff, Kelly Korb, Marissa Martinez, Melissa Innouye and current UNLV coaches Maggie Livreri and Geney Orris. Also in attendance were: Nicole Truax, Nicole Miller, Cyndi Parus, Cindi Davis, Trish Spencer, Lisa Neisen, Mary Stengal and Lori Harrigan.

Closing out the Fall festivities was "Family Day" this past Saturday, Nov. 14. The program welcomed over 150 people to Eller Media Stadium to watch an intrasquad scrimmage.

Making "Family Day" even more special was the ceremonial adoption of Jenna Jackson into the softball program. Jackson, who lives in nearby Logandale, Nev., was paired up with the team through the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation. Jackson and her family were present and got to spend the day with the team.

The Rebels begin the 2010 campaign on Feb. 11-13 with their Sportco Kick-Off Classic. UNLV will play five games with the first coming against the Illinois Fighting Illini on Feb. 12 at 3:45 pm.
