EL PASO, Texas - UNLV senior golfer Eddie Olson shot a final-round 4-over-par 75 Tuesday at the 35 annual Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic to finish 22nd. Olson turned in a 54-hole total of 4-over 217.
The tournament, which was hosted by the Sun Bowl Association and included 32 All-Americans from last year, was played at the par-71, 6,837-yard El Paso Country Club.
Olson, who earned honorable mention All-America honors as a junior in 2008-09, was the 17th Rebel golfer to participate in the All-America Golf Classic. His final round consisted of one birdie and five bogeys.
Alabama's Hunter Hamrick and Oklahoma State's Morgan Hoffman tied for first after 54 holes at 11-under 202, but Hamrick won in a one-hole playoff. Both golfers finished the tournament with rounds of 2-under 69. Wichita State's Dustin Garza finished third, one shot back after a final-round 1-over 72.
The 32-player field was the largest in the history of the event. In 2005, 31 players competed in the tournament.
Each university represented in the field was awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
UNLV's spring season will begin Feb 1, with the PING Arizona Intercollegiate in Tucson, Ariz. The Rebels wrapped up the fall season with a ranking of 15th nationally.
