UNLV women's golf completed its first round of the spring season, opening up play at the Wildcat Invitational on Sunday, which is being played at the Peninsula Golf Club and hosted by Arizona.
The Rebels shot a team score of 311 (+23) and are tied for 12th in a field that includes nine top-25 teams among the 17 that are playing, including four teams that are in the top 10 of Golfweek's latest rankings. Top-ranked UCLA has the first round lead and the Bruins are the only team under par with a score of eight-under 287. Juliana Murcia of Arizona State has the individual lead after 18 holes of play after firing a five-under 67 on the par-72, 6,146-yard course.
UNLV is being paced by the sophomore combo of Therese Koelbaek and Alejandra Guacaneme, who both recorded rounds of four-over 76 today and are currently in a group that is tied for 28th. Rebel junior Natasha Krishna is just a stroke behind after she shot a 77 (+5) and is currently tied for 37th after the first round.
Rebel freshman Kristen Schelling is tied for 74th with an opening-round 82 (+10) and Melissa Mabanta is tied for 85th with a score of 88 (+16).
Round two tees off on Monday with the opening groups starting on the first hole at 7:00 a.m. (PT).
