LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's tennis team improved to 8-6 overall by downing Saint Mary's College 5-2 at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on Saturday.

The hosts earned the doubles point by winning on two of three courts. Kristina Nedeltcheva and Katy Williams won 8-5 at the top spot and Rumyana Terzieva and Nikol Dimitrova teamed up for an 8-6 victory at No. 3

In singles play, top Lady Rebel Nedeltcheva upset 56th-ranked Alexandra Poorta 6-1, 6-3 on court one to set the tone. Dimitrova won in a super-tiebreaker of Anna Chikhikvishvile 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-2) at No. 2; Katy Williams won when her opponent retired with the score 6-1, 3-2 at No. 3; and Adrienn Hidvegi swept 6-1, 7-5 on court five.

"Today was a solid team effort," said UNLV head coach Kevin Cory. "Saint Mary's has a strong team that will be back in the rankings by the end of the season. It was great to see Kristina getting back on track with a couple of ranked wins this week. We've been working really hard on our doubles in practice and it's shown with some great results."

Next up, UNLV hosts No. 64 Oklahoma on Tuesday beginning with doubles at 11 a.m. Admission is free of charge.
