LAS VEGAS - The No. 14 UNLV men's golf team will compete in the 43rd Annual Morris Williams Intercollegiate, this Monday-Tuesday, March 30-31, which will be played at the University of Texas Golf Club (par 71, 7,412 yards) in Austin, Texas.
This year will mark the second time the tournament has been played at UT Golf Club. It was held at Austin Country Club the previous nine seasons. The 54-hole tournament will be played over two days with 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.
The 18-team field is made up of host Texas, Air force, Arkansas, Baylor, BYU, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Pepperdine, Rice, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Tulsa, UNLV and USC.
Texas won last year's Morris Williams Intercollegiate with a total of 16-over-par 868. UT's Bobby Hudson was the individual medalist with a 5-under 208. He shot 65 in the final round to set the course record. UNLV finished third in last year's event at 24-over and was led individually by former Rebel Matt Kinsinger's third-place finish at 1-over.
Competing for the Rebels next week will be Eddie Olson, Brett Kanda, Derek Ernst, Ji Moon and Colby Smith. UNLV is coming off a fourth-place finish at the National Invitational Tournament, which was held in Tucson, Ariz., on March 22-23. It was UNLV's seventh top-five finish in eight outings this year.
