TUCSON, Ariz. - Behind the strong play of Therese Koelbaek and Kristen Schelling, the UNLV women's golf team finished second at the 11th-annual MountainView Collegiate, which was played at MountainView Golf Course.

The Rebels posted a team score of 866 (291-287-295, +11), which was nine strokes behind team winner San Jose State (867, +2) as UNLV came up short in attempting to win a second straight tournament. The Rebels won their own UNLV Spring Invitational earlier this March and were in contention through the two-day tournament this weekend to earn team honors.

Koelbaek and Schelling helped the Rebels keep in the hunt while each where chasing medalist honors, with the duo finishing tied for fifth and ninth respectively.

"It was our goal to come here and have a chance to win, and we were able to do that," UNLV head coach Missy Ringler said. "We played well as a team and we will take this momentum with us to Indiana and then to the conference tournament."

Koelbaek shot a two-over 74 during today's final round on the par-72, 6,263-yard course for a 54-hole total of one-under 215, which was six strokes back of individual winner Erica Moston (209, -7) of San Jose State. Two strokes behind Koelbaek was Schelling, who finished the tournament with a total of 217 (+1), the best finish of the freshman's short collegiate career.

UNLV junior Natasha Krishna (222, +6) finished tied for 22nd, sophomore Alejandra Guacaneme (226, +10) came in tied for 35th and Bethany Glassford (229, +13) finished tied for 50th to round out the Rebel five.

The Rebels will conclude their regular season next week, traveling to the Indiana Invitational, which is April 6-7.
