LAS VEGAS - Junior standout Kristina Nedeltcheva has won her fourth league player of the week award this season, the Mountain West Conference announced on Wednesday.
Nedeltcheva, who also won on Jan. 21, Feb. 25 and March 18, was a combined 4-2 at the No. 1 spot in singles and in doubles over the weekend as UNLV went 3-0 and moved up 25 spots in the national rankings.
Currently ranked 125th in the nation, the native of Sofia, Bulgaria, picked up her fifth ranked singles win of the spring, downing No. 84 Macall Harkins to help stage a 4-3 upset of 32nd-ranked TCU. The following day Nedeltcheva improved to 17-8 in singles after downing Julia Trunk as part of the Lady Rebels' 5-2 shocker over No. 29 San Diego State.
Nedeltcheva also teamed with senior Katy Williams to win two doubles matches, including upsetting the nation's No. 40 doubles team from the Aztecs, to improve to 18-6 on the year.
New Mexico's Miles Bugby was named this week's men's player of the week.
The Lady Rebels, ranked 46th and currently in a three-way tie with BYU and Utah for first place in the MWC at 3-0, travel to Colorado Springs this weekend for a trio of conference matches, starting with Air Force on Friday.
