COLUMBUS, Ind. -

On a day more suitable for skiing than golf, the UNLV women's golf team fought through adverse playing conditions to grab the lead at the Indiana Invitational after two rounds of play Monday at Otter Creek Golf Club.

With temperatures hovering around 40 degrees, a wind chill making it feel at least 10 degrees cooler and a mixture of snow and rain coming down, the Rebels posted a team score of 626 (317-309, +50) to move atop the leaderboard. It is good for a seven-stroke lead over Iowa State and nine shots ahead of Texas, Michigan and Iowa, who are all tied for third place.

"We are pleased to be in the lead after a tough first day," UNLV head coach Missy Ringler said. "The team held together in some very difficult playing conditions. I am very proud of their play today."

UNLV junior Natasha Krishna has a share of the lead after 36 holes of play on the par-72 course, firing a five-over 149 with rounds of three-over and two-over on her day. Krishna is tied with Nicole Vandermade of Texas in the chase for medalist honors, and Krishna is looking for her first tournament title this year.

Rebel sophomore Therese Koelbaek is five shots off the leader's pace, as she carded a two-round total of 154 (80-74, +10) and is tied for fifth heading into Tuesday's final round. Fellow sophomore Alejandra Guacaneme (80-83--163, +19) is in a tie for 33rd, Kristen Schilling (82-82--164, +20) is in a tie for 38th and Bethany Glassford (89-79--168, +24) is in a group that is tied for 51st.

UNLV also has a pair of individuals playing in the tournament, and Victoria Oros (88-84--172, +28) is tied for 64th and Stephanie Whatley (88-89--177, +33) is in 76th place.

The Rebels are part of a 14-team field that is playing in the tournament and this is the second year in a row that UNLV has participated, and the team posted a fifth-place finish at last year's event. Tomorrow's final round gets underway at 7:00 a.m. (PT) with a shotgun start and fans can follow the tournament live by going to www.unlvrebels.com.
