LAS VEGAS - As a thank you to the UNLV community, the offices of the University President and Intercollegiate Athletics are teaming up to offer full-time UNLV employees two complimentary end-zone tickets to the Rebels' football season opener against Sacramento State at Sam Boyd Stadium on Sept. 5.
Acting Athletics Director Jerry Koloskie said he and the school's newly appointed president, Dr. Neal Smatresk, wanted to help open the season on a high note.
"After all that this campus has gone through recently in these tough economic times, our department and President Smatresk's office thought this would be a great way to thank the people who keep this university running," Koloskie said. "We are expecting an exciting season ahead and want everyone to join us at the stadium that night to kick things off right."
Full-time UNLV employees (academic faculty, administrative faculty and classified staff) will be mailed an informational postcard this week to their campus offices. Beginning Aug. 24, eligible employees can order their two free end-zone tickets by logging onto www.unlvtickets.com/kickoff and following the redemption instructions.
The offer, which runs through Sept. 2, is only available online. While redeeming their free ticket offer, employees may also purchase additional tickets for $10 each.
Kickoff between the Rebels and the Hornets is set for 7:05 p.m. (PT) in what will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
