Team Again Earns ITA Honors

Sept. 18, 2009

LAS VEGAS - UNLV's women's squad earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association Academic All-America status for the 12th time in 14 years, the ITA recently announced.

The ITA team award is open to any program that has a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or above.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must be a varsity letterwinner, have a GPA of at least 3.50 for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.

Individually honored for head coach Kevin Cory's team were top singles and doubles player Kristina Nedeltcheva, who is heading into her senior season in 2009-10, and now-graduated Lady Rebel Katy Williams.

It marked the seventh consecutive season that at least two UNLV women earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.
