- The UNLV women's golf team will take part in its final tournament of the fall, hosting the UNLV Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev. starting Monday, Oct. 25 at 7:30 a.m.

"Being on our home course is a huge advantage for us," said first-year head coach Amy Bush. "Our girls have been practicing very hard over the last few weeks and we all want to finish out the fall season on a great note."

The Rebels are ranked 36th while defending Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown champion Arizona enters the tournament as the highest ranked team in the field at No. 11 and one of 10 featured in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. Also in the field are No. 15 Arkansas, No. 25 Kent State, No. 30 Oregon, No. 35 Louisville, No. 38 Washington, No. 40 San Diego State, No. 45 Minnesota and No. 49 East Carolina.

Senior Therese Koelbaek is one of nine players in the tournament field ranked in the top 50 in the nation. Koelbaek, who has posted third place finishes in all three tournaments played this fall, returns to the Rebels after helping lead her home country of Denmark to a top-15 finish at the 2010 World Amateur Team Championship held in Buenos Aires, Argentina over the past week. Koelbaek tied for 16th place after shooting even par during the four-day event held at both the Buenos Aires Golf Club and Olivos Golf Club.

Louisville's Sara-Maude Juneau is the highest ranked individual in the field, standing at No. 13. Arkansas and Arizona each boast two players in the top 50. No. 34 Kelli Shean and 48th-ranked Emily Tubert will lead the Razorbacks while 35th-ranked Isabelle Boineau and No. 38 Margarita Ramos will help the Wildcats try to make it back-to-back Showdown wins in Boulder City.

"We have a great opportunity to finish well and beat some higher ranked teams this week," added Bush. "This tournament will be one of the best we have assembled at the Showdown and will certainly feature a plethora of great golf."

Rounding out the Rebel squad this week will be Kristen Schelling, Alejandra Guacaneme, Ellis Keenan and Katerina Prorokova. Bethany Glassford, Mandi Incorvaia and Stephanie Whatley will also compete as individuals for UNLV.
