LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team improved to 2-0 on the year following its 92-56 win over visiting Southeastern Louisiana Wednesday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The meeting was the first-ever between the two schools with the Lions providing the Runnin' Rebels with their toughest test so far, powered behind Trent Hutchin and Brandon Fortenberry, who scored 18 and 16 points respectively.

Eleven different Rebels scored, with nine scoring at least seven and five finishing in double digits led by Anthony Marshall's 14 point effort. Brice Massamba added 12 while Justin Hawkins chipped in 11 and Chace Stanback and Karam Mashour each added 10.

UNLV outscored the Lions 50-12 in the paint and won the battle of the boards by a 42-29 margin. The Rebels also registered 18 assists on the night and shot 62.5 percent (35-of-56) from the field, while limiting SE Louisiana to just over 32 percent (21-of-64).

The Rebels came out of the locker room at half and used an 11-2 run over the first five minutes to put the game out of reach.

The two teams then traded baskets until the 8:34 mark of the half when UNLV catapulted themselves ahead with a 14-4 run, limiting the Lions to just one field goal in that span.

Stanback's 3-pointer early on during the run proved to be the biggest shot of the night as it kept UNLV's NCAA-leading streak of 774 consecutive games with at least one 3-point field goal made going.

The Rebels opened the game hitting their first four field goals, resulting in an 8-1 run over the first three minutes.

Southeastern Louisiana would battle back however, tying the game at 12 and again at 15 apiece off 3-pointers from Hutchin, who closed the half with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including a trio made from behind the arc.

The Rebels remained hot for the second straight game from the field in the opening half, shooting 59.3 percent (16-of-27). Eight different UNLV players scored in the first half including Massamba, who chipped in nine off the bench.

The Lions were outscored 18-0 in the paint and didn't register a single second chance point in the opening half.

UNLV will be back in action this Saturday, Nov. 20, as they host Big Ten power and 25th-ranked Wisconsin at 4 p.m. inside the Thomas & Mack Center.
