LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV was held to just two points over an 11-minute span in the first half, and Oregon State forced the Lady Rebels into a season-high 27 turnovers to pull off a 57-45 win in the second game of the Hyatt Place Lady Rebel Round-Up on Friday night from the Cox Pavilion. UNLV, who fell to 3-1 with its first loss of the season, will take on Pacific in the consolation game at 5 pm on Saturday. OSU (4-1) meanwhile will face Rutgers in the championship game at 7:30 pm. Rutgers won its contest over Pacific by a 71-39 margin.

UNLV would turn the ball over 10 times during the stretch, while Oregon State reeled off 12 unanswered points for a 17-11 edge with 4:46 to play. OSU led by double-digits for the first 12 minutes of the second half, opening up a 16-point lead twice. The second time was at 41-25 with 9:19 to play. However, two technicals on the Oregon State coach in a two-second span, which led to his ejection, started a 10-0 run for UNLV. The beginning of the run was six straight free throws, while Mia Bell added a pair of layups to bring UNLV within 41-35 with 6:43 on the clock. UNLV then had a chance to close within three, but Smith's three-pointer was off the mark, while OSU quickly came down and Alyssa Martin buried a trey from the corner to put the Beavers back up nine.
Again UNLV closed to within six, this time on a Kelli Thompson three-pointer to make it a 46-40 game with 4:01 to play. OSU again answered with four straight points, and after another Thompson trey made the score 52-45, OSU made five free throws in the final 30 seconds for the 12-point win.
UNLV would finish the night shooting 26.4% (14-of-53) from the field and 14.3% (3-of-21) from three-point range, both season lows.
