LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV senior women's golfer Mandi Incorvaia will participate in the NCAA West Regional Career in Sports Forum this coming weekend, Nov. 6-7, in Long Beach, Calif.
The forum is where selected student-athletes will learn and explore skills that will assist in their transition to a career in sports. The primary focus for a career in sports at this forum consists mainly in collegiate athletics.
Incorvaia, a Las Vegas native who transferred from Southern Utah, has a dream to remain around the sport she has dedicated over half her life to, saying that she would ideally enjoy teaching or coaching.
"I am very excited for Mandi to have been selected," said first-year head coach Amy Bush. "Attending the NCAA Sports Forum is a wonderful way for her to learn more about careers in athletics. She has expressed interest in coaching over the last few seasons and will be an excellent representative for both the women's golf team and UNLV Athletics."
After four successful years on the links, Incorvaia is ready to apply what she has not only learned on the course, but in the classroom as an Academic All-Mountain West Conference selection.
"I could not imagine going to college for four years and not being a student-athlete," said Incorvaia. "It keeps me busy, more motivated and focused in the classroom and on the golf course. It's been an amazing experience that is unfortunately going to end soon, but I am happy to say that I've taken so much away from being a student-athlete and I have a lot to look forward to!"
Areas of focus throughout the two-day event include the following, The NCAA: Overall structure, divisional focus and services provided; Defining You: Branding, goal setting and communication; Networking: Social vs. professional and effective vs. ineffective; Meal Etiquette: Proper business environment behavior; Next Steps: Advanced degrees, interviewing, resumes and job pursuit.
"I am hoping to get a better idea of what it actually takes to be a coach," added Incorvaia. "Hopefully after this weekend I'll walk away with some more knowledge on the subject and be led in the right direction."
The two-day event begins at noon on Saturday, Nov. 6, running until 9 p.m. The forum will conclude at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7.
