Final Stats

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV Rebels (6-1) pushed their winning streak to six games with an 11-3, five-inning win over the San Diego Toreros (3-2) Friday night from Eller Media Stadium during the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic. The Rebels used the long ball to distance themselves from the Toreros with Kendall Fearn, Jaci Hull and Marissa Nichols going yard.

San Diego notched the game's first run when Jessica O'Connor (1-0) had some control issues. O'Connor gave up a one-out hit and then hit a batter and walked two more to bring to put USD ahead 1-0.

The Rebels answered back with three scores of their own in the bottom half of the first. Tara Bendt began the frame with a triple to right center and quickly tied the game on a single by Hull. Fearn followed with a deep blast to left center that pushed UNLV ahead 3-1.

UNLV extended its lead to five runs in the second on a three-run shot by Hull that brought home Paige Emerson and Nichols. Emerson initially reached on a walk and took third on a double by Nichols.

Nichols added to the home-run barrage with a grand slam in the third that scored Ashli Holland, Laura Briones and Emerson.

USD managed to get its second and third runs off a two-run homer by Jennifer Ellenbeck in the top of the fifth.

Tayler Aleman wound up helping UNLV invoke the eight-run rule in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI-single with the bases loaded.

O'Connor picked up her first win of the season in 4.1 innings of work. She allowed three runs on five hits, while walking four and striking out two.

Traci Odegard faced two batters in relief of O'Connor and struck out one of them.

Kailtlin Healy (0-1) lost her first game of the season in only 1.2 innings in the circle. Healy was touched for six runs on seven hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

Ellenbeck threw 3.0 innings for USD and watched as five Rebels would score on five hits. She also walked five and struck out one.

Note: With her home run and four RBI, Hull moved up to second in UNLV's career charts for home runs and RBI, with 41 and 140, respectively.

The Rebels return to action immediately following the USD game with a 6:50 pm affair with the Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine.
