Playing under mostly sunny skies following pouring rain the day before, the UNLV women's golf team wrapped up play at the Wildcat Invitational on Tuesday, finishing 15th overall at the tournament, which was played at the Arizona National Golf Club
The Rebels shot a two-round score of 626 (314-312, +58), and they were in a 16-team field that featured 11 squads currently ranked in Golfweek's latest top-25 poll. Top-ranked Arizona State won the team title with a 36-hole score of 576 (+8), 12 shots better than host Arizona. Caroline Hedwall of Oklahoma State took home medalist honors with a six-under 136, five strokes better than anyone else in the field.
UNLV junior Therese Koelbaek was her team's highest finisher, coming in tied for 27th with a two-round score of 151 (76-75, +9), while senior Natasha Krishna tied for 40th with a total of 154 (78-76, +12). Kristen Schelling and teammate Bethany Glassford, who was playing as an individual, each shot scores of 163 (+21) and were in a group that tied for 77th, Mandi Incorvaia shot a 164 (+22) and tied for 80th and Alejandra Guacaneme shot a 167 (+25) and tied for 86th.
The tournament was originally slated to be a 54-hole event, with teams playing 36 holes on Monday, but heavy rains yesterday canceled round two, and it was shortened to a 36-hole tournament.
