LEADING OFF The UNLV Rebels head back to Southern California for five games at the Judi Garman Classic (March 18-21) in Fullerton, Calif.
The Rebels open up action Thursday evening (March 18) at 6:15 pm,. with a rematch against the Purdue Boilermakers. The two teams played last week in Lakewood, Calif., at the LBSU Invitational with UNLV claiming a 7-3 win.
UNLV plays a pair on Friday (March 19) against #4 Michigan (9:00 am) and San Jose State (1:30 pm).
The Rebels will then play single contests against #7/10 Arizona State (9:00 am) on Saturday (March 20), while closing out their quintet of games against DePaul on Sunday (March 21, 3:45 pm).

ON DECK: The UNLV Rebels continue their four-week stay on the road with a third consecutive trip to Southern California. UNLV will play a total of three games in the Los Angeles area.
The Rebels will face Loyola Marymount for the second time in 2010 on March 26 (2:00 pm) before a doubleheader at 5/6 UCLA on March 27 (1:00 pm).
REBS NAB WEEKLY HONORS: After a 5-1 showing last weekend, the UNLV Rebels' good fortunes carried over, as sophomore outfielder Paige Emerson and sophomore pitcher Jessica O'Connor were named the Mountain West Conference's Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
Emerson, from Rocklin, Calif., batted .400 (6-for-15) with one triple, three RBI and seven runs scored. In UNLV's doubleheader sweep of Southern Utah (Game 1 - 11-2; Game 2 - 12-0), Emerson went 2-for-5 with a triple, two RBI and three runs scored. In the Rebels' 7-3 win over Purdue, she went 1-for-3 with two runs scored, and followed with a 2-for-2, one-run scored performance in a 4-2 victory over San Diego. In a 4-1 loss to Notre Dame, Emerson went 1-for-3 with an RBI-single. Defensively, she had five putouts with no errors over six games from the outfield position.
O'Connor, a Littleton, Colo., native, compiled a 3-0 record (two complete games) in four appearances for UNLV last week. In 16.1 innings on the mound she struck out 14 batters while giving up 11 hits (10 singles), six walks and three unearned runs. In the Rebels' 11-2, five-inning win over Southern Utah, she scattered four hits, walked one and struck out five while giving up two runs. Against San Diego, she fanned five batters and gave up just two hits, one run and one walk in 4.0 innings of work for the win in UNLV's 4-2 triumph. She ended her week with a complete-game shutout of Buffalo in UNLV's 2-0 win. In 7.0 innings, O'Connor gave up just five hits and walked four, while striking out four.
LOOKING BACK A WEEK: The UNLV Rebels went 5-1 last week with a home doubleheader against Southern Utah and four games played at the Long Beach State Invitational in Lakewood, Calif.
UNLV defeated SUU 11-2 and 12-0 last Wednesday in back-to-back five-inning affairs.
The Rebels then hit the road for four games in Lakewood. They won two straight with victories over Purdue (7-3) and San Diego (4-2) before succumbing to Notre Dame (4-1). UNLV won the finale over Buffalo by a 2-0 margin.
Offensively, the team hit at a .322 clip with six players hitting above the .300 mark. Tara Bendt led the Rebels with her .750 average and seven runs. Kendall Fearn led the squad in hits (7) and RBI (7).
In the circle, Jessica O'Connor went 3-0 in four appearances. O'Connor notched two complete games and one shutout in 16.1 innings of work. Traci Odegard went 1-0, while Kylie Wagner went 1-1.
