LAS VEGAS - The No. 8 UNLV men's golf team will play in the Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship on Sunday-Tuesday, March 21-23, at The Ritz Carlton Golf Club, Dove Mountain, in Marana, Ariz., just outside of Tucson.

The field consists of 16 schools with Stanford receiving the top seed. The Cardinal will face 16th-seeded Indiana. The winner of that matchup will face the winner of eighth-seeded USC and ninth-seeded TCU. Arizona State is the fourth seed and will face 13th-seeded Iowa, while fifth-seeded UCLA will play 12th-seeded Colorado State to round out the top half of the bracket.
Texas A&M is the third seed and will face host and 14th-seed Arizona, with the winner facing the winner of sixth-seeded UNLV and defending tournament champion and 11th-seeded Middle Tennessee. Seventh-seeded Texas Tech will square off with 10th-seeded San Diego, while second-seeded Washington will face 15th-seed New Mexico.
The opening round tees off at 8 a.m. MT.
Playing for the Rebels will be Derek Ernst, Colby Smith, Brett Kanda, Eddie Olson and Jeremiah Wooding. The GCAA (Golf Coaches Association of America) sets the order based on Golfstat rankings.
In its last tournament, UNLV won its fourth team title of the year when it tied for the co-championship at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters in Las Vegas. UNLV's four team titles this season are the most for the program since the 1996-97 season when the team also won four tournaments. The last time the Rebels won five tournaments in a season was during 1998-99.
This will be UNLV's first match-play event of the season. All eight of its previous tournaments this year have been stroke play.
