TUCSON, Ariz. - The UNLV women's golf team finished third and Kristen Schelling tied for fifth following Saturday's final round at the MountainView Collegiate, which was held at the MountainView Golf Club.
The Rebels carded a two-day total of 894 (298-299-297, +30), which was just four strokes behind Colorado State and Texas Tech, which shared the team title with scores of 890 (+26). Schelling was the highest UNLV golfer on the leaderboard, as she shot a total of 221 (74-72-75, +5) after rolling in a 3-over 75 on Saturday. Schelling opened today's final round with the individual lead, but the sophomore finished two shots back of Julia Potter of Missouri and Gabriella Dominguez of Texas Tech.
Just outside the top 10 was Therese Koelbaek, who finished tied for 11th with a total of 223 (72-77-74, +7), while senior Natasha Krishna tied for 18th with a score of 225 (79-72-74, +9). UNLV junior Alejandra Guacaneme tied for 28th with a 227 (75-78-74, +11) and Mandi Incorvaia tied for 40th with a 230 (77-78-75, +14).
Bethany Glassford competed for the Rebels as an individual, and she finished tied for 81st with a score of 240 (81-83-76, +24).
This was the final regular-season tournament for UNLV, which will now get ready for the 2010 Mountain West Conference Tournament, which will be held April 15-17 in Monterey, Calif.
