UNLV Spring Invitational Information
LAS VEGAS -
The UNLV women's golf team will play in its third tournament in as many weeks, hosting the UNLV Spring Invitational, a 54-hole tournament that begins Monday at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.
The Rebels are part of an 18-team field that includes seven teams in the top-50 of Golfweek's latest rankings, including No. 34 Tulsa, No. 38 Texas, No. 45 UNLV, No. 46 Texas Tech, No. 47 Idaho, No. 48 Campbell and No. 50 Wisconsin. UNLV is the defending team champion of the tournament, earning the title with a team score of 884 (+20), the second time the Rebels won their own spring tournament.
UNLV head coach Missy Ringler's lineup for the tournament will be Therese Koelbaek, Kristen Schelling, Natasha Krishna, Alejandra Guacaneme and Bethany Glassford, and it is the same five that won last year's invitational. Krishna paced the squad last year, finishing fourth overall, while Koelbaek and Guacaneme were in a group that tied for 13th. UNLV will also have a trio of individuals competing at this week's tournament, and they are Mandi Incorvaia, Stephanie Whatley and Victoria Oros.
"We are excited to be hosting again at Boulder Creek Golf Club and we are looking forward to defending our title," Ringler said. "I am confident in the team's play right now and it is great to have a real home course advantage. We need to use that to our benefit this week."
The tournament gets underway Monday, with teams teeing off of holes No. 1 and 10 at 7:30 a.m. (PT) on the par-72, 6,246-yard course, and the format will remain the same on Tuesday and Wednesday.
