LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's golf team has received a signed national letter of intent from Katerina Prorokova and she will enroll this fall and be eligible to play for the Rebels during the 2010-11 season, head coach Missy Ringler announced today.
Prorokova is originally from Ro?nov pod Radho?těm in the Czech Republic but has spent the past two years at the IMG Leadbetter Golf Academy in Bradenton, Fla. She is rated as the No. 81 prospect in the 2010 class by Golfweek and she has placed in the top 10 in four Future Collegians World Tour events since the start of last fall.
"Katerina was one of the best players unsigned from the fall signing period," Ringler said. "She is a late comer to the game and as she continues to develop, I think she will be a very good player for us."
Prorokova recently tied for seventh at the IMGA/DLGA Championship on March 20, her highest finish in a FCWT event, and that followed an eighth-place finish at the Plantation Inn Open on Feb. 27-28. She has played in six FCWT events and has made the cut in all of them.
