LAS VEGAS - The 35th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team defeated Mountain West Conference rival New Mexico for the eighth consecutive meeting, this time 7-0 on Friday at a sun-splashed Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The Lady Rebels improved their home record to 15-0 and at 16-3 have their best overall record after 19 matches since posting the same mark at this point in 2002. UNLV also improved to 3-1 in MWC play while the Lobos fell to 1-16/0-4.

The hosts opened a 1-0 lead by sweeping three doubles matches. Kristina Nedeltcheva and Jana Albers rallied for an 8-7 win at the top spot; Anna Maskaljun and Alisa Razina won 8-2 at the second position to improve to 14-2 in dual matches this season; and Adrienn Hidvegi and Nives Pavlovic upped their duals record to 16-3 with an 8-5 win on court three.

In singles, Nedeltcheva, ranked 37th, snapped a personal three-match losing skid in style by blanking Anya Villanueva 6-0, 6-0 at the top of the lineup. Albers, ranked 111th, downed Kristin Eggleston 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2; Pavlovic won 6-2, 6-1 over Laura Richardson at No. 3; Hidvegi got by Ashley Bonner 6-2, 7-5 at No. 4; Maskaljun won 6-4, 6-1 over Manumea Durie at No. 5; and Rumyana Terzieva downed Amy Shipperd 6-1, 6-2 on court six.

Next up, UNLV will hold its annual Senior Day on Saturday vs. No. 73 TCU to honor its two seniors, Nedeltcheva and Razina. The home finale begins with doubles play at 10 a.m. Admission is free of charge. A victory by the Rebels would give them an undefeated home record for only the second time in program history (14-0 in 1995).
